President Jefferson originally called for a band of about 10 men. However, the final result was actually a combination three groups that added up 30 men and one woman (some reports claim as many as 43), including Clark's slave York. Sacagawea gave birth of her child Jean Baptiste Charbonneau shortly after joining the group bringing the total to 32 people. These are the positively known members of the Corps: |
