SACAGAWEA

Sacagawea is one of the most enigmatic people in our country's history. No one knows exactly when she was born or died. We're not even sure of the correct spelling of her name. But what we are sure of is that the Lewis and Clark expedition would likely have never been seen or heard from again if she had not been along.
Sacagawea endured many hardships along the way. She gave birth, nearly died from disease, and was beaten by her owner routinely. And when the corps was confronted by an overwhelming force her presence was the only thing able to save all their lives.
